Peter Baker grew up in Westerville, Ohio and after high school had to make the difficult decision of going into music or starting on the path toward a career in medicine. Although he loved music, he chose to go into medicine. After finishing undergraduate work at Otterbein College and medical school at The Ohio State University, Pete completed residency training at OSU and became a member of the faculty at the OSU College of Medicine.
In 2002, he moved to Columbus Children’s Hospital (now Nationwide Children’s Hospital). He has continued to play trumpet/cornet during his years of education and his esteemed professional career. He says he felt very fortunate to be invited to join the Brass Band of Columbus in 1984.
