Philip Smith principal trumpet with the New York Philharmonic. Mr. Smith received training at The Salvation Army and is a graduate of The Juilliard School. Smith has appeared regularly (around the world) as soloist, recitalist, chamber orchestra performer, and clinician.

Smith has been on the faculty of The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music. He is a member of the Principal Brass Quintet of the New York Philharmonic and has performed and recorded with the Canadian Brass, Empire Brass, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Mostly Mozart Orchestra, Bargemusic, and New York Virtuosi Chamber Symphony.

Phil Smith has now retired from the New York Philharmonic and now resides in Athens, Georgia where he is now a Professor at the University of Georgia.
