Many rehearsals and preparations are underway for the 2012 God & Country Concert to be held this week on Saturday 21 April 2012 @ 7:00 pm at Dublin Jerome High School at 8300 Hyland-Croy Rd. in Dublin.
Joining the platform with the BBC will be The Salvation Army Chapel Brass from the Chapel at Worthington Woods under the direction of Dr. Keith Wilkinson.
We are excited to also welcome:
James Curnow as Guest Conductor. Not only is is he a long-time BBC friend and frequent guest conductor, he is one of the most repsected and internationally celebrated celebrated active composers.
Brett Baker, featured trombone soloist, will perform with Chapel Brass in several selections. Mr. Baker is President of the British Trombone Society and considered one Europe’s leading brass performers.
The varied program will include performances by each band – closing with three joint pieces – each under the direction of one of the conductors: James Curnow, Dr. Wilkinson, and Brian Stevens.
The God & Country Concert features music literature that celebrates spirituality and patriotism – often with familiar melodies in new settings to provide depth to the brass band genre and its appreciation.
Finally, the concert is an opportunity for the presenentation of the Annual God & Country Award and the recognition of three outstanding young musicians in our community with Brig. Arthur B. Hill Scholarships to further develop their talents.
