The 1st place winner of the 2014 Young Artist Competition is Brandon Davenport, Baritone of Grove City High School. Brandon redeemed his prize of performing with the BBC one year later at the Tuesdays at Trinity Concert held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Bexley, OH.
Brandon, as a recent Grove City High School graduate, performed The Blue Bells of Scotland set for brass band by William Dougherty, Jr and accompanied by the BBC.

Greetings from the Brass Band of Columbus! The BBC’s Educational Outreach Committee is pleased to announce the fifth Young Artist Competition 2014.
Competition applicants in grades 9-12 on brass and percussion instruments must prepare a Class A Solo from the OMEA required list and be a member-in-good-standing of their high school band program. The competition is in recital format and applicants must provide their own piano accompanist. The competition will be held in the Kabel Chapel at Capital and there is a $20 application fee.
Our competition adjudicator will evaluate the performers on tone and intonation, technical merit and musicality and interpretation. Cash prizes of $500, $250 and $100 will be awarded to the top three contestants. The winner will also be invited to perform with the BBC at an upcoming concert. At the conclusion of the competition, the Brass Band of Columbus will present a free concert at Trinity Lutheran Seminary where the competition winners will be announced.
