Champions

Founded in 1984 by Dr. Paul Droste (pictured above), the Brass Band of Columbus (BBC) has a Championship reputation. The BBC competed in the top NABBA division, the Championship Section, and has been awarded First Place ten times – most recently in April 2006.  No other North American brass band approaches this record of excellence. Learn more about our rich history.

April 2009 the BBC won the Hannaford Cup - awarded at the Hannaford Festival of Brass (Toronto) for their performance of The Padstow Lifeboat. This is the first time the Hannaford Cup journeyed south of the Canadian border!

The BBC returns to competition at NABBA this year. We also continue our goal of remaining champions of our community through our Educational Outreach program and continued drive to bring this wonderful genre to new audiences.

A New Season

The 2012-2013 season moves the BBC forward to its 29th year.

We start the year out with great fun at the German Village Society Oktoberfest and have a very busy October!

While we have some of our traditional concerts scheduled well in advance, we are very excited about season to include a concert with renowed tuba soloist Øystein Baadsvik. Mr. Baadsvik was a soloist during our 25th Silver Celebration. Learn more about Øystein Baadsvik and watch a video of his performance of Fnugg.

Mr. Baadsvik conducted a Master Class before the Concert.

Support Us

Our all-volunteer organization relies heavily upon Corporate and Individual support to sustain our mission as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.   We have a growing educational outreach program featuring an annual Young Artist Competition and a Shared Concert Series.

We commissioned James Curnow to compose a new work in honor of our 25th Gala - the result of his genius is The Ellacombe Chronicles.

We need your help to continue such ambitious initiatives that further the genre as a whole.

Support us by concert attendance and the purchase of our CDs.

Support us with cash and in-kind donations.

If you have talents to share, consider supporting us through our Corporate Board of Directors.
